Oppo Mobiles India's finance manager face charges for ITC fraud of Rs 19 crore

Mahendra Kumar Rawat, the finance and accounts division manager of Oppo Mobiles India, has been arrested by the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) Commissionerate in Mumbai for allegedly fraudulently availing input tax credit worth Rs 19 crore ($2.6m) through fake invoices. Rawat was held in Maharashtra's Thane district for contravening section 132 of the CGST Act, 2017, and detained in judicial custody until 3 April. A statement from the CGST said that the investigation found that Oppo Maharashtra had availed of fake ITC without receiving goods.
