Google is the latest company seeking to leverage artificial intelligence in chatbots, a field in which OpenAI’s ChatGPT is leading. In a memo, Pichai stressed Google had not always been first to market with successful launches, insisting products had to “solve important user needs” and be built on “deep technical insights”.
