Pixel Fold is not Google's first foldable phone, here's what happened to the first one

Google's Head of Design for Hardware Products, Ivy Ross, confirmed that the company is working on a second foldable phone after the recent launch of Google Fold. Ross said that the team held back from launching the first foldable model to make it better. However, she did not reveal the type of foldable phone the company is developing.
