Nikola founder Trevor Milton gets four years prison sentence on these three counts of fraud

Founder of Nikola, Trevor Milton, has been sentenced to four years in prison for lying to investors about the company's technology. Milton misled investors about the company's pickup, its own batteries, and the functionality of the "Nikola One" semi-truck. U.S. District Judge Edgar Ramos stated that the jury got it right and that Milton's statements were false. Milton's defense included quoting Bible verses and discussing his family, but the judge did not accept his explanation. Nikola agreed to pay $125 million to settle civil charges brought by the SEC.
